Speakers do much more than simply make sound louder. They determine clarity, punch, coverage, and how comfortable an audience feels over the duration of an event. That’s why we don’t take a one-system-fits-all approach. Different events benefit from different speaker setups.
One of the most common questions we are asked is about the difference between active and passive speaker systems, and why we offer both.
Passive speaker systems use external amplifiers and processing to power the speakers. This approach has been a long-standing standard in live sound and is still very effective, particularly for straightforward band setups and medium-sized venues. Passive systems are robust, flexible, and well suited to traditional stage layouts.
Active speaker systems have their amplifiers and processing built directly into each speaker. These systems are precisely tuned by the manufacturer, allowing for faster setup, fewer external components, and very consistent sound quality across a wide range of events.
Both approaches are valid. The key is choosing the right tool for the job.
Our passive system is built around Electro‑Voice TX1152 tops with Electro-Voice TX2181 dual 18” subwoofers, supported by Yamaha passive stage wedges.
This system delivers:
It’s a dependable workhorse setup that performs extremely well when a classic passive rig is the right fit.
For events that demand maximum clarity, speed of setup, and even audience coverage, we deploy our active system. This consists of RCF HDL 26-A line-array tops, paired with RCF Sub 8008-AS subwoofers, with performers monitored through HH Audio Tensor active stage wedges.
This system offers:
Different venues, audiences, and performances have different needs. By running both passive and active systems, we can match the sound system to your event rather than forcing your event to fit the sound system.
The result is better sound, greater reliability, and a more enjoyable experience for both performers and audiences.
